The boys were so anxious for him to come home that evening. They knew that cake would be on the menu...
When TJ finally walked in the door, they both shouted, "Happy Birthday!!!" And then Trever exclaimed, "Now let's eat cake!"
Of course, both boys were expected to eat 'at least five bites' of their dinner before that cake was coming out.
And they did. So after a hurried meal of Baby Back Ribs, Country Potatoes and seasoned Asparagus, I brought out the much anticipated Chocolate Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting--in all it's sugary glory!
We tried singing "Happy Birthday" quickly, but before the song was over, Nathan had blown out the first half of the candles and Trever finished off the second half. Then Nathan dived in, face first and Trever scooped a pile of frosting off the side.
Game on! Both boys were in 'cake heaven' while TJ and I laughed in amusement.
(Happy Birthday, Daddy! Thanks for turning another year older, so we could have cake!)

Happy Birthday TJ! I love how you say "game on" with the frosting divers. Your boys must have been a hoot to watch go after the cake. How did you keep it from them all day? I bet that was work by itself.
Aren't birthdays a blast when you have kids. Their excitement makes turning another year older worth it. Happy Birthday TJ!
