A couple weeks ago, we made another trip to East Idaho for TJ's nephew's missionary farewell (so proud of that great young man!) We always try to divide our time between our two families, though, so on Saturday, we got to spend some time on horse back at my parents' place....and I happened to have my camera on hand...
Yah, I know...we really need to work on these boys' cowboy clothes! hahaha!
They're such sports jocks! But they were super excited to ride the horses!
Each boy got to groom one of miniature ponies,
just for fun...they're cute, but not the best riding ponies...yet.
Trever cracks me up in this old blue straw hat he found in my parents' coat closet...he decided he needed to wear it for the whole horse riding experience. He may be getting older, but he still does things like that--that are just cute!!
Isaiah's top two favorite animals are dogs and horses,
so this was a super fun time for him!
He did get a little nervous, at first,
coming up close to the big horses,
but he warmed up quickly and was ready to ride!
Trever has learned so much about horses from my mom, over the years.
He takes it really seriously and really enjoys it, too!
Nathan was eager for the horse ride,
but his allergies flared up really bad...
his face got all red, his eyes got super swollen,
he was sneezing and sniffling and feeling more miserable by the minute.
So, TJ took him to the house to get some allergy medicine and Nathan decided he wanted to stay at the house with my dad instead of join us on the horse ride. Poor kid!
My dad helped the big boys groom their horses and also helped Isaiah sit on the one of the horses before Nathan's allergy break-out. Isaiah got to try out quite a few horses before we got going...
TJ helped him sit on one of the mini's....
And I got to take him for a little ride around the arena...
But we decided to put him on with my mom, the pro, before we set out on the trail...and it's a good thing we did...
Trever went on a little ride on his own in the arena, before we left, also. Then he got on the back of TJ's horse and we went for a little trail ride in a field near my parents' place. I was feeling really bad for Nathan, that his allergies were keeping him from joining up, but it's actually a good thing he didn't come, because he would have been on the back of my horse....and my horse decided to take off on a "dead run" (as the cowboys call it...and for good reason, too!) He was going SO fast, ran me into some overhanging tree branches, but I stayed on and rode him down to the road before I got him to stop...whew! haha! It was some ride!

I love all the adventures we get to have whenever we go home!
There's nowhere more special to our boys than the homes of all their grandparents and great-grandparents. And they always look forward with eagerness for their next visit to East Idaho!
